Step 4: When the machine finished with the carving, we did the final touch-up sanding by hand. In this case, the client wanted the piece without stain so that they could match the finish to the 1800's era piano into which this scrollwork was to be set.
Step 1: We received this image via email from the customer. We were given the specific measurements, and the type of wood desired. We traced the image using computer software and imported it into our CAD/CAM program.
Step 2: We used the imported file to create a 3D model of the desired product in our state of the art CAD software. We sent a jpg image of the 3D rendering to the customer for approval. Once we received the OK, we created the toolpath (carving instructions) and imported that to the Computer that runs the CNC machine.
Step 3: We let the machine do the work. This can take several hours depending on the intricacy of the design. In this case, it took about an hour.
